Taming All 9 Spirit Beasts and Lessons Learned

From my experience, getting all 9 Spirit Beast in the game right now is much harder and more challenging after Mist of Pandaria release than they were previously. This is due to the server merges which leads to very high competition. This can be too intense sometimes depending how many people are camping the spot at a particular time.

9 exotic Spirit Beasts that you might want to collect
If you got all 9 Spirit Beast before Mist of Pandaria expansion, congratulations and you are one of the lucky ones but you've missed all the pain as well as the fun. I'll share some of my lessons learned (Spirit Beast tricks and protips) when taming all these exotic pets and hope you may find it helpful, as listed below:

  1. Download and install NPC Scan and NPC Scan Overlay
  2. Download and use auto mouse mover software to prevent auto logout. This way, you can leave your character online when you go to sleep. I am currently using http://www.murgee.com/auto-mouse-click/. Another tip is to turn off Music and Sound Effects when you camp, so, when NPC Scan goes off, it will be the only sound that alerts you. Good, if you're taking a nap, just don't turn up the volume too high or else you might get a heart attack.
  3. Respawn timer does not get affected by realm restart or maintenance. It will be frozen and will resume later after server starts.
  4. Be prepared to dismiss pet, make sure there is sufficient pet slot
  5. Use Glyph of Tame Beast that will reduce taming time by 4 seconds.
  6. If there's competition from other players (Horde or Alliance), try your best to tame the pet but don't ever kill it. (You can scatter and use traps on the rare creatures if necessary to compete)
  7. Make a macro to unequip all your armored gear to tame Magria and Ankha. They will one shot you if you have armor stats on your character. Also, be sure that your unequip macro includes your range weapon, in any case a hunter in the same faction tries to shoot your tame, you can Distracting Shot and re-tame the pet back.
  8. To be competitive, get Master Riding. It's doable without it. I didn't get it on my hunter myself when I tamed the Spirit Beasts.
  9. When taming Ban'thalos dismount mid air, shoot and disengage before you land on the ground to avoid falling damage. Waiting atop the tree, will result in risk that other hunters might snatch your Spirit Beast.
  10. Longest respawn time pets are Ban'thalos, Magria and Ankha which is on 6-17 timer. (9 hours wait time if you know previous tame / death)
  11. Magria and Ankha will spawn exactly in between the yellow tree and big rock to the most west of their  spawning area.
  12. Ghostcrawler will spawn at the most west of his spawning area and will periodically dissapear and reappear.
  13. Ghostcrawler cannot be killed or crowd control.
  14. Gondria and Loque'nahak have a high chance location to spawn. (Refer from each Spirit Beast articles listed below)
  15. You might end up finding Time-loss Proto Drake when searching for Skoll.
  16. Magria and Ankha share the same respawn timer and might appear randomly one at a time.
  17. Keep clearing your creaturedb cache everytime you go for a new hunt (Located in WoWfolder/Cache folder).
  18. There's a non-rare creature called Thundermaw that looks exactly like Skoll model.
  19. I assume, most of you will end up using Loque'nahak even if you have all 9 Spirit Beast.
  20. To tame Ban'thalos, Ankha and Magria, you need to complete Assesina's Miracle quest.
You can check out the articles about taming each Spirit Beast pet below:

2. Loque'nahak
3. Gondria
4. Arcturis
5. Ghostcrawler

Until Blizzard releases more Spirit Beasts, enjoy the hunt!
