Lately, I've been so tempted to get this rare and elusive beast named Loque'nahak that wanders around Sholazar Basin. I have decided to go for a hunt. After camping the area for about a week, I still had no luck on seeing him anywhere. Yesterday, at around 12:20PM, I had a shock after I logged on and found him dead exactly in front of me. It was located at the most western area from Nesingwary Base Camp near the mountains. It was so ashamed to find him dead there on the ground, I told myself if I had logged on a few minutes earlier I would have got him. I waited there awhile and the corpse despawned about 3 minutes later. Loque'nahak is believed to spawn 6-10 hours and when he spawn it usually will last around 10 minutes before he will disappear again. The most common spawn point reported by players will be at two western spawn point near Nesingwary Base Camp. With the server merges in Mist of Pandaria, he will not last even a minute before somebody either tame or kill him.
Log on to see him dead. What a dissapointment.
I'm still determined to get him, at least I had seen him with my own eyes and knew roughly when he might have spawned. Happened in the same day, my real life friend was at home with me so I told him to help me camp 6 hours around after he spawn. We estimated he will spawn somewhere around 6:00PM because based on valid sources the corpse will last 20 minutes before it will disappear. So, we made a conclusion that he had spawned at 12:00 noon, thus we have to start camping 6 hours later.
During that evening, the clock strikes 5:45 PM, we had setup a plan. My friend was supposed to bring his warlock to camp the south west of the map, while I parked my Druid at the north west and Death Knight at northern spawn point. My hunter was covering the south east area using Eagle Eye to scout the 3 spawn areas. Before that I had my hunter to set his hearth at Nesingwary Base Camp just in case my friend spotted him there. The clock was 6:05PM, my friend was still flying from Borean Tundra to his designated spot at Nesingwary Base Camp. I log on to my Druid and Death Knight to check the north spawn points and didn't see him. I logged back on my hunter to continue scouting.
My hunting strategy to get Loque'nahak |
At 6:08PM, my friend reached Nesingwary Base Camp, he was playing with the NPC Scan to joke around with me. I was sitting opposite of him that time. The clock strikes 6:10PM, I heard the NPC Scan alert on my friend's computer, he told me Loque'nahak is here and I really thought he was joking. After a few seconds I stood up and watched his screen and saw the beast there. I quickly hearth and mount over to the location. We a saw an alliance hunter flew past by on top of him. I quickly dismounted and saw another alliance hunter flew right towards us (As seen in the screenshot below). I quickly clicked the tame ability (I had my pet dismissed earlier just in case) and got him right before the other hunter can manage to reach the ground. He congratulate my tame. I was so grateful.
I would say every second counts when you hunt for Loque'nahak, for example if I forget to dismiss my pet within that split seconds someone might have gotten to him first. For those who are still searching, hope you can learn from my story and experience above. I wish you all the best and happy hunting.
Gotcha! That Alliance hunter was just about to land |
